I agree with your point that Anchorage is hard to master, because she is. When using propulsion mod+rudder mod 2 the gap between her detection range(11.9km) and maximum range is very small and can cause trouble when you want to disengage, when using propulsion mod+concealment mod her rudder shift is painfully long, and when using rudder mod 1+concealment mod her bad power/weight ratio makes her hard to start moving (But hey,it's hard to forget about them since I managed to dev stike a Marco Polo rushing my smoke screen with those torps)Īs a dockyard event ship Anchorage has the nature of being underpowered (because WG thinks you can get them for a lower price, well, except Puerto Rico),while using a Buffalo hull(which is famous for bad handling),her HP pool has been nerfed(and for now 100 HP less than Rochester even though she weighted 3000 tons more),meanwhile doesn't have heal, still has Buffalo concealment, and range is still painfully short (Buffalo has range mod to ease both concealment problem and range problem) I have played Anchorage on my friend's account, and for now Rochester is a better Anchorage if you forget about those torps. Her gun bloom problem makes smoke camping near critical chokepoints more dangerous while she struggles with limited range with a clumsy hull in my opinion.

Though there are still arguments like "smoke camping with a slow-firing cruiser is one of the more boring gameplay experience".Įven I have invested much to get Anchorage last year (paid both starter packs as my real life sucked much then) I haven't managed to master her yet. Her initial incarnation was just a boring premium Baltimore and more importantly with worse radar and agility (at least the Fog Kongo and Myoko-classes are exactly equal to their tech-tree counterparts and I earned them for free).

If she gets more range or/and has repair party she'll be much more competitive If she joins the game still with radar and no other improvement,I can say she's somehow underpowered.

are doing their job well (at least in this case) by swapping her radar to smoke generator. Based on my experience I can say Rochester is a well balanced ship and provides an alternative gameplay style for USN Cruisers(along with Anchorage).
